What the heck is 4D?

I hear Hollywood people talking about 4DTV  4D Television, and Virtual Reality

Just to set the record straight

4D film or 4-D film is a marketing term for an entertainment presentation system combining a 3D film with physical effects that occur in the theater in synchronization with the film. (Note that 4D films are not actually four-dimensional in the geometric sense of the word.)
Effects simulated in a 4D film may include rain, wind, strobe lights, and vibration. Seats in 4D venues may vibrate or move, have air jets, water sprays, and leg and back ticklers.
Effects may include smoke, rain, lightning, air bubbles, and special smells

Someone just decided to use this term ignoring Disney and other's past usage.
And now it's the buzz in Hollywood. The next frontier of content in part driven by the gold rush that started with the $2B acquisition of Oculus Rift.

Seems like this term came from Daqri:

The Augmented Reality Conference you've been waiting for. Experience it exclusively at DAQRI's premier 4D conference and exposition. Attend in-depth sessions and learn from experts in their fields how 4D is applied today in:  INDUSTRIAL, MARKETING, ENTERTAINMENT, EDUCATION

I like this term though for AR and  Free View Point video it's a nice marketing term.  This is the ability to move around within a still, live or recorded video.  Virtual Reality is a form of this only that it's synthetic images.
